We learn in a digital environment at Endon High School. Every pupil and member of staff using an iPad to maximise every pupil’s opportunity to learn. Pupils  take part in the 1:1 iPad programme called the Thrive Project. The Thrive Project is a digital strategy that aims to enhance the quality of teaching and learning at Endon High School and enable pupils to be better prepared to thrive in an ever changing world.

Over the past few years the school has invested in the infrastructure and capacity necessary to allow digital teaching to flourish. We are proud to be recognised as a Trust and national leader in digital teaching and learning. Our digital strategy has also supported our outstanding results.

The Thrive Project has five key aims:

We believe the Thrive Project supercharges our ability to fulfil our School Mission:

To inspire confident learners and take them on a journey of opportunities throughout Endon High School so that they can thrive academically, socially, physically and emotionally, within a happy and caring environment.

We expect all members of our school community to value: Curiosity, Determination and Kindness. To be ready, be respectful and be responsible. To believe in our motto - that everyone has more in them. We aspire to equip everyone with the knowledge, understanding, skills and qualities needed to achieve success at the highest level.

Empowering every learner to go beyond their best and aim for excellence in everything they do, so that they may all follow a quality pathway after Endon High School and thrive in an ever-changing world.

At Endon High School, we have created a learning environment where traditional teaching methods are complemented with efficient, effective technological based solutions, both in and out of the classroom.

The benefits of such an approach are primarily focused on a pupil’s academic progress but technology has so many other benefits, including pupil and staff development opportunities.

We are keen to empower pupils to take control of their learning and to work in a more individual and personalised way. Furthermore, we have seen how pupil learn in new, more effective and more engaging ways, embracing innovation both in school and out.

Whilst we understand that technology opens the door to a new and engaging world, and we want out pupil to become well-informed, responsible digital citizens, we are keen not to lose the tried and tested traditional teaching and learning methods that have bought success over many years.

Our aim is to find a balance that allows elements of both to complement the learning experience of our pupils and enables them to thrive!

Our Vision:

Digitally Thrive. Excellence through digital innovation. Our digital journey is rooted in the same values that shape everything at Endon High School. Through the Thrive Project, we use technology to drive Excellence in performance, ensure Equality of access and opportunity, foster Evolution by embracing new tools, opportunities and ideas, act Ecologically by reducing our reliance on paper and waste, and keep everyone e-Safe through education and digital responsibility. This vision reflects our belief that technology, when used with purpose and innovation, can transform learning and prepare every pupil to flourish in an ever changing world.

Supported by parents, carers and the school community

When pupils join Endon High School they will be supported with a school funded device in Year 7 & 8. However, in the later years parents and carers support the school with a contribution, allowing the school to afford the project for all years. The school is supported by 'The Friends of Endon High School' fund to support those parents and carers that are struggling to contribute. If a pupil is supported with Free School Meals by the Pupil Premium Grant their parental contribution is waived.

We would love to fully fund the project but significant and sustained increases in school operating costs, including energy, staffing, and resources, have made that unfeasible. This alongside falling school budgets. However, our commitment to your child’s learning remains unchanged. The School is committed to making this scheme as affordable as possible.

Pupils receive:

  • Access to an Apple iPad (Education model) owned by the school
  • A tough case
  • An iPad Pen (any replacement pens are funded by parents/carers)
  • A managed Apple ID
  • Appropriate apps to assist teaching and learning
  • Monitoring and Safeguarding software
  • Access to high speed managed WiFi when on the school site
  • Insurance for accidential breakages*

*The school will cover the cost of the first incident of accidental damage, expect a parental contribution if there is a second and expect parents to pay the cost of replacing the iPad if there is a third.
